Austin, TX has rich culture full of music, film, sports, arts, and fitness, and for a long time, it has served as a central hub of American activity. Today outside the Austin, TX City Hall, the Million Mile Month kicked on its shoes and kicked off its efforts to raise awareness of the effects of heart disease. Since heart disease is reported to be the number 1 cause of death in the United States, according to The Heart Foundation, this month-long event is a great way to gain support for better fitness.
With fundraising to beat heart disease in mind, the Million Mile Month mission is to promote all elements of fitness by encouraging folks like you and me to log the miles we walk, bike, yoga, run, or even swim! By registering on the Million Mile Month website, you can keep track of your active miles throughout the month of April. They give you opportunities to win prizes, raise funds for research on treating / curing heart disease, and improve your fitness all at the same time. If you have a strong competitive edge, they even keep a leaderboard updated with participants' logged miles.
For more information, check out their website, and register to participate. But if running and walking aren't your thing, give swimming a try! Contact your local California Pools manager today to schedule a free in-home consultation. Help us turn your backyard living dream into a reality!
